I have a laptop with Windows 7 and the screen saver is disabled, however, the screen saver becomes activated if after ~3 minutes of activity by first dimming the display and then after about ~5 minutes later, executing sleep mode.

I have Malwarebytes, Rougekiller, Avast, AdwCleaner and SuperAntiSpyware Pro software running on my laptop. They have all turned up negative hits. I even ran the program Hitman Pro, which also turned up negative.

The only thing that has occurred in the last couple of days is the updating of the Avast program software. I have contacted them to see if the software has any affect on this and am waiting to hear back from them but I was wondering if anyone else has heard about this or possibly other ways to investigate this issue.

Do you really mean this? That the screensaver kicks in while you are actively using the computer?

Post a screenshot of your Power Settings. (Control Panel then Power options) Click on Change plan settings to the right of whichever plan is now selected.
