Screwed PC

I'm trying to sort out my mum-in-laws PC. But to be honest, it's completely screwed. It has spyware, viruses, and programs installed even google hasn't heard of.

Also someone has tried to hepl her before, and only half deleted programs etc.

I have a madesafe folder, I think it's related to norman, and i've looked on google how to remove it, but nothing i've done has worked, 3/4 of the files are missing, All thats left in the folder is the Nvc folder.

The add/remove section of control panel is missing a lot of programs, ive tried independant add/remove programs, all the same, doesn't show a lot of programs.

The internet and computer are running slow, i'm tried setting the Rwin and MTU settings as DSLReports settings suggested, but hardly any improvement noticed.

I've gone into safe mode and ran adaware, which helped, but still seems to have spyware on here.

I've tried running trend.com's antivirus, but it doesn't work. Tried re=installing Java etc, and still didn't work. It'll start, but not finish, just keep running then says some error message.

I've got a Hijackthis file at the bottom of the post, but even that seems quite small report. I'll try everest if needed, but means a lot of hassle getting it on this PC.

With the programs i haven't been able to delete, i've disabled them from running in services.msc to try and save some processes etc.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:

CounterSpy

AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy

Bitdefender - from step 6

Panda Scan - from step 6

runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat

newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat

HijackThis

NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
