    Hi,
I am running Windows XP Home Edition with SP2. My late husband built my computer and partitioned the hard drives. About a month ago, I had to reinstall Windows due to a blue screen error message about a driver problem. Anyhow, Now my computer seems to run really slow and I am getting a script error. What is that and what can I do about it? Should I just start all over again, reinstalling Windows? Should I leave the partitions alone? Any help is appreciated.

No need to touch the partitions.
Can you tell us exactly what the script error was ?, or, was it too quick?
To find out what is causing it , you can right click my computer, click manage, cliick event viewer, click application, and then double click on the yellow exclamation mark (s) to read what they say, and report back to us.

I have not been able to get the actual script error, but I did as you said, went to my computer and I noticed that I have alot of the yellow !!!
Here is what is said when I clicked on one:
Detection of product CD1CD48D-7B18-4254-B43D-AEAB704AB063 FEATURE MAILBOX COMPONENT (5CC2D105-DDDD-4EC4-8B74-750194E57B99) FAILED
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER SOFTWARE\INSTALL SHIELD\UPDATE SERVICE DOES NOT EXIST
Another one says TACore failed during request for component

I have quite a few and they all pretty much say the same thing. What is the MSiInstaller?

    Thanks,
    Debbie

TACore failed during request for component:-

Could be a server/ outlook error, but I cannot offer more on that, as Apache server often comes up , when searching.
With luck, someone with more knowledge of the error, will come on line to help.
I hope the pointers will be of some use to you.

It would be easier to re-install XP, just save any important data, and the drivers, if you can, to CD, FIRST.

So, you think I'm better off just re-installing windows? How do I save the drivers? I have already saved what I want due to reinstalling xp in early May. Should I leave the partitions alone? Or what?

    Thanks so much

    Leave partitions as they are.
I am not the best at registry work, someone else might be able to give you a better way, but
    ---
This is the way I do it---
click on my computer, click on the C: drive, right click explore, right click on Windows, click explore, go to i386, right click the folder, click copy, and paste into My Documents.
Then write this folder to CD, as you do to save other data, and when XP is reinstalled, and you need a driver, and Windows asks if it should look for a driver, direct it to brouse the CD with the copy of i386, on it.
If you have the motherboard drivers, already, that will make it easier for you (install graphics driver first)If you have not, then you should be able to reinstall all your drivers from the i386 copy in the CD.

I was finally able to copy what the script error said!!!!
    Line 56 Position 56
    If compare strings (path, "HKCR",2)=true then GetHi<script Language="VB Script">

    Does this help?
