search box

Hello. My daughters PC had some sort of malware I think, which I have mostly removed. A bit remains. It is a search box at the top just to the right of IE's own address box. It had the words "Mt Web Search" in it until I deleted all references to "My Web Search" from the registry. Now it contains just "Search..." and to the right is a magnifying glass button and a downward pointing black arrow head (Search Options). If you enter a word or URL in the box and click the magnifying glass it doesn't do anything. Nothing. Is this a bit of dead malware or a bit of windows or something else? Anybody got any clues?
