    I have some sort of the re-direct virus or hi-jack on my PC.
    I have run through the Malware Removal Guide as directed on many other posts, however the problem still exists.
    Previous scans with AdAware seems to be the only thing that has detected the culpret, but it is unable to remove the problem. It is named somthing like "redirect\.\\ie - microsoft.private.com"

    I have attached log files as directed in malware removal guide.

    Any help is apreciated. Thanks!

    You will have to give me the complete path to what Ad-aware is reporting. ( Be aware that this program is virtually useless these days.)

    Please use add/remove programs to uninstall:
    Viewpoint Media Player <-- should have been uninstalled in step 1 of the READ ME

    In the meantime, please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    File::
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\geyekrmxnlqitn.dll

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Thank you for your reply!
    I have followed the instructions you provided, however, i could not run Add/Remove Programs through control panel until AFTER I ran combo fix this time around. I removed the suggested program through CC Cleaner's removal tool.

    I ran Ad-Aware in an effort to get you the requested information regarding its earlier find, but even after a complete scan it showed no results this time around.

    The redirect problem seems to have been taken care of, but i am still hesitant to say that the problem is resolved, because yesterday I had a pretty major attack consisting of various rouges and other malware which leads me to believe I may have some sort of a back door hiding somewhere.

    I attached the logs you requested from Combo Fix and MGTools...

    Thank you!

    Correction: Upon further use of this computer, the search engine redirection problem has persisted...

    Not sure how you did it, but you have picked up a bunch of new infections.

    Please refrain from making any changes to your system (updating Windows, installing applications, removing files, etc.) from now on as it might prolong handling your log and make the job for both of us more difficult.

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!

    Code:
    KILLALL::

    AntipyPro_12

    File::
    c:\windows\ppp4.dat
    c:\windows\ppp3.dat
    c:\windows\system32\desot.exe
    c:\windows\system32\sysnet.dat
    c:\program files\Windows Antivirus Pro

    c:\windows\system32\desot.exe
    c:\windows\system32\onhelp.htm
    c:\windows\system32\sonhelp.htm
    c:\windows\system32\sysnet.dat
    c:\windows\system32\wispex.html
    c:\windows\system32\tmp.txt

    Folder::
    c:\program files\Windows Antivirus Pro

    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now re-run RootRepeal and attach that log.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
