I want to search for a file on an external hard drive. Unfortunately, the idiots at Microsoft have made searching difficult with the latest versions of Windows. I cannot fathom the reasoning behind making something more difficult as software is developed. Anyway, how can I search for a file using keywords (I don't recall the exact name) on an external hard drive? My operating systems (I have 2 computers so could do the search on either) are Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Double click your external drive in Computer. There will be a search bar in the upper right with a magnifying glass. Type in your keyword. Clicking on the magnifying glass will let you create a filter for date and size.
