Searching instead of opening

    Hi
    Windows XPsp2
    Yesterday my computer started doing strange things. First when clicking my desktop icons instead of opening in windows explorer they were opening in
    Fastone picture viewer. A free program that i've had no problems with,and i don't think i had even used in several weeks.
    I went ahead and un-installed Fastone.
    Now instead of opening the folder or the external hard-drive when clicking the icon,it opens search. also if I right click a folder,search is on top of the list. I used to know how to change this but can't seem to find how i did it before.
