Recently had to search MG for Zone Alarm (free version). Best results were using the google type search link, as follows.

    http://www.google.com/custom?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&oe=ISO-8859-1&client=pub-6960825562757852&cof=GL%3A1%3BBGC%3A%23FFFFFF%3BT%3A%23000000%3BLC%3A%230000CC%3BVLC%3A%23663399%3BALC%3A%230000CC%3BGALT%3A%23008000%3BGFNT%3A%23000000%3BGIMP%3A%23000000%3BDIV%3A%23336699%3BLBGC%3A%23FFFFFF%3BAH%3Acenter%3B&domains=MajorGeeks.com&q=zone+alarm&sitesearch=MajorGeeks.com

Using the traditional Search forum, by going to www.MajorGeeks.com and typing in +zone+alarm, or zone+alarm, or zone alarm, gave completely different results.
I suggest that you bookmark the google type link above, and then just alter the search for Zone Alarm to whatever you are looking for, like Avast, or whatever, for best results.

PS: Only the google type search link mentioned Zone Alarm Free (latest version) as the first hit. The other 3 searches only mentioned Zone Alarm (with AntiVirus), no mention of what I was looking for.

Yeah, I have definitely noticed that the MG search function is pretty subpar...I usually don't get the right results...I almost always use the google search....

Also, a little tip to Firefox users, you can right click in the Google search box (or any search box for that matter...) and click on Add a Keyword for this search, then type a keyword. For me, i just type "mg search terms" in the address bar and it autosearches majorgeeks!

I'd put it more forcefully than that (

i use Firefox... that little side search bar in the upper right... I was using the dictionary.com one and noticed that you get different definitions if you type the same word in the search bar, than you do if you type that word at www.dictionary.com.... weird

Yeah – The site search engine is limited to certain aspects of the site. If you’re good at Boolean it works great for finding titles but it’s not good at other things.

We added the Googles search to the menu bar over a year and a half ago and spoiled us to the point that we really haven’t worked on ours at all…. I mean lets face it, you can’t beat Googles engine so why not incorporate it, right?

We tried to remove the regular site search a few times but got a lot of complaints from people who really like that… So we left both to give a choice.

CP, didn't realise that the google search had been available for that length of time. Musta missed it, before. The google search is great for accuracy. Bazza
