Ok...so I download videos & music from edonkey and somehow or another whether from that or from something my computer-defunct husband did, we got this stupid Search Miracle pops that won't go away. I did some research and found an old thread that listed that SearchMiracle goes along with Elite Toolbar. I followed all your directions on the "Read first Trojan & Spyware board" and have a few other "Anti-Spywear" programs on my machine (Ad-aware 6.0 and SpySweeper) and Norton's AntiVirus. I've run them all, but too no avail, the darn SearchMiracle pops up come back up. When I run Spy-bot & Adware SE, it claims to remove Elite Toolbar, but upon next reboot, it's still there. I've even downloaded HijackThis and deleted the related files from there in both normal and safe mode. But still, upon reboot the %@&*ing thing comes back!!!! HELP!!!!!!

I'm running Windows XP fully updated.Everything I've run has been updated, but this thing won't go away.

    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ad-Aware 6 is out of date!

First, please follow ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal
If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

After doing ALL of the above if you still have a problem:

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99.1 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log as an attachment to your message (Do not post the log inline). All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

As Requested, I have attached a Hijack This file that I did with nothing running.

I want to clarify something that I said earlier than I'm not sure if you understood...

I DID follow all the step you listed on the "DO FIRST" thread. I downloaded everything and ran it, and yet, SearchMiracle pop-ups are still coming up!!! HELP!!!!

If you are using WinXP or WinMe, make sure you have system restore disabled (per the tutorial).
For all OS types, make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Please run HijackThis and click on the "Open the Misc Tools Section" button on the open page. Then select "Open process manager" on the left-hand side. Look for the following process (or processes) and one at a time kill them by selecting it and then click "Kill process". Then click yes.
    C:\WINDOWS\msexploren.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\ccApp.exe

After killing all the above processes, click "Back".

Then please click "Scan" and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ED103D9F-3070-4580-AB1E-E5C179C1AE41} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [antiware] C:\windows\system32\elitepam32.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinAmpAgent] C:\WINDOWS\msexploren.exe /i
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] C:\WINDOWS\ccApp.exe /i

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\msexploren.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\ccApp.exe
    C:\windows\system32\elitepam32.exe

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again.

    Now:
Go to Start > Run and type: cleanmgr and then click OK. Make sure the boxes for these are checked:
    Temporary Files
    Temporary Internet Files
    Recycle Bin
    And Click OK.

Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log. And tell us how things are working.

Ok, I followed all directions and yes, the search miracle pop-up is gone. However, when I ran the HJT again, I saw that elitepam32.exe still there. Also there are a few programs that I'm not sure what they are:

LowLight.exe (comes up in Task Manager)
PrevAdServ.exe (shows up in Hijack This)

    Any ideas????

LowLight.exe is a part of the Logitech webcam software. I assume you have a Logitech webcam.

Were you able to locate the C:\windows\system32\elitepam32.exe file last time and delete it.
If not, you should have said something.

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Preview AdService] C:\Program Files\Preview AdService\PrevAdServ.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [antiware] C:\windows\system32\elitepam32.exe
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete:
    C:\Program Files\Preview AdService <--- the whole folder
    C:\windows\system32\elitepam32.exe
If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again.

Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log. And tell us how things are working.

Also look in C:\Program Files and see if you find a folder name something with EliteBar or anything like that. Do not do anything with it!! First just tell me what you find.

Ok...so I deleted the PrevAd folder like you said, but I couldn't find the elitepam32.exe so I ran a search for it (while in safemode) and only found this file:

    c:/windows/pretectch/ELITEPAM32.EXE-2B50055F.pf

I didn't find an EliteBar folder in Program Files, but I found EliteSideBar ande EliteToolBAr in the Windows file.

I've gotta leave for work in 20 minutes, so if you don't hear back, it's cuz I'm at work. Sorry. I do thank you for your help :)
