I am fairly new to computers. I have tried to set up security system with free programs.

I have read a lot of posts at Geeks, Wilders security forums, etc. and tried to form an opinion about various programs from consensus opinions of others.

I am now using Online Armor firewall.......Avira Antivir personal, Threatfire and spyware blaster......For offline scans I use A-Squared and Super Antispyware.

Am I missing any needed protection. Or have I created a cluster junk of conflicting programs........Thank you.

    Hi

I feel you have read up and researched this subject of PC security very well and have a nice combination of security products, which are all fine and if your keeping malware free then I would not change any of them at all as they are working for you.

I would add that a large proportion of users who do get infected, get infected by the sites they surf and view and from what they download, while p2p is safe, what your downloading may not be, so duty of care is really in the hands of the user. So if you practice safe surfing then you will be fine.

Also keep your Operating System and software fully upto date always, for updates to many of the common applications many use our front page downloads are always upto date.

Plus a guide for you to read through created by our very own Chaslang a guru in the world of removing malware ~ How to Protect yourself from malware!
