    Thanks Eldon.

    Looking at the survey
That's a very tiny sampling of all the computer users in the world. I don't think I'd depend too much on the survey results.

The other two links are well worth a read.

Of course, if one makes images, ;) recovering from an attack be it virus, malware, or ransomware those tools aren't needed.

    Thanks plodr.

I also pay no attention to surveys - I just put it out there.

FWIW @plodr and @Earthling have posted over and over...
Image your system and backup your files.
    Simply the best advice. :)

Yup. I'm currently imaging my 2nd computer. I'll do all four today then update 1 computer at a time (Feb. 2019) and use before I move on to another to see if I notice anything weird.

Thanks for that. I stick to known apps on my devices. No matter how close to 5 stars an app gets, if I've never heard of it, I avoid it.

Fortunately, I run ESET on my mobile devices.
I was running Malwarebytes too but it seemed to take too long to do everything.

Strange, if I am reading this table correctly and 6 is the top score, then Norton and Mcafee got top marks across the board.

Last time I used Norton was probably 10 years ago and wild horses could drag me back to using that product ever again.........

Thanks. My paid version of ESET expired in December and I haven't renewed it. Most of the time my tablets are used at home behind my router. For the wee bit of surfing I do on my phone, I use cell rather than free wifi.
Interesting that ESET hasn't been looked at since 2017. A lot can change in that time span.
