This pc was brought to me in its current state.

Security Shield virus was infecting it, friend ran a thing or two - Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware - and thought he was good.

PC looks alright except it is imposible to connect via ethernet to any network. Wireless appears to be alright here at my place.

    Looking for some advice/guidance.

I've already run Tweaking.com's Windows repair tool for all applicable feature sets.

Ran all the requested scans. Hitman pro wouldn't run without the network connection and I'm without wireless at this location. See attached. I did find one of his old MalwareBytes scans that is related to this event.

Really never planned to bump this at all, but I did finally get Hitman to go through.

I'm not seeing any signs of remaining malware. If you are still having networking issues, you may have to reinstall the drivers for the network interface card.

You could also try the below but I'm not sure if it will fix it.

Be patient while doing the below. The fixes can take quite awhile to run. Especially the permissions repairs. It may be best to kick it off and goto bed or do something else. It is better not to run anything while the repairs are going on.

Download Windows Repair by Tweaking.com and unzip the contents into a newly created folder on your desktop.
    • Now run Repair_Windows.exe by double clicking on it ( if you are running Vista or Win 7, use right click and select Run As Administrator)
    • Now select the Start Repairs tab.
    • The click the Start button.
    • Create a System Restore point if prompted.
    • On the next screen, click the Unselect All button to first deselect all repairs.
    • Now select the following repair options:
      • Reset Registry Permissions
      • Reset File Permissions
      • Register System Files
      • Repair WMI
      • Remove Policies Set By Infections
      • Repair Winsock & DNS Cache
      • Repair Proxy Settings
      • Set Windows Services To Default Startup
    • Now on the lower right side check the box to Restart/Shutdown System When Finished
    • Then make sure the Restart System radio button is enabled.
    • Shutdown any other programs that you are running now before continuing.
    • Now click the Start button.
    • Be patient while the tool repairs the selected items.
    • It should reboot automatically when finished.

I'll definitely run this when I get back to the computer in a couple of hours.

    I tried running:

    netsh winsock reset catalog
    netsh int ip reset reset.log

Both commands returned "Access Denied" I'm 100% positive that I tried running these in an elevated command prompt. Any ideas on how to solve that? I figure there has to be some correlation.

Try what I already posted. Other than that, possibly this is an issue for the Software Forum.
