Sad news and actually liked his style of politics, was a great spokesperson IIRC for health, education and work, as well as dealing with many civil liberties acts.

A great dynasty he came from.

R.I.P Ted. I think he had lived a long life, and had some health issues, for sure... He was a great man... He will be sadly missed. Only two weeks after Eunice, too... Quite a lot for the family to take....:(

Going to be tough to fill those shoes. They were brought up being taught since they were born privileged it was their responsibility to speak out for those who were not.

    RIP Mr Kennedy

A sad loss to America, and the world, of a distinguished Senator from a distinguished family. Some of his great contributions were to the Judiciary system; civil rights; health; labor; and the rights of various minority groups. Ted was characterized, not so much as a brief but blinding flash of brilliance, as with his brothers John and Robert, but more as a steady guiding light over the decades.

He was a murderous alcoholic with brain cancer, sooner or later it had to happen. All the decent Kennedy's died in the 60's.

Thanks for most that you did, a real humanitarian who came back and soared over the abyss of his disease for the good of all. I'm giving him an Irish wake!:drinkR.I.P

Paxton, you may have your opinions on the man, but I really don't feel they are appropriate for this thread.
He did many good things during his career. May he rest in peace now.

Pain & suffering is something we ALL experience, more so for those in the spotlight. Edward Kennedy stood for alot & DID do alot of good, we just didn't get to hear about it all.
He helped many people, especially those less fortunate... He WILL be missed.
    R.I.P Edward. :(

We all need a BETTER world, lets start NOW.

As a distant relative of his, I will certainly join the wake. I did not agree with a lot of what he did in the past, but he did try to do good things towards the end. As many have said, it truly marks the end of a dynasty!

    RIP, cuz!

I have always felt that could just as well have been said by Edward Kennedy. No, he was not perfect. Far from it, in fact. But he did a lot of good, and I wish more of the wealthy and privileged followed his example and used their money and influence to help those who were born less fortunate.

Rest in peace, Senator. You've earned it.

I have to agree. But without getting too political everyone has the capability of doing good & bad. The choice's we make shape all of us & effect everyone around us near & far.
I just find it sad that the human brain isn't used as much as it could be.
The potential WE ALL HAVE could do so much good if only we plied ourselves in the RIGHT direction.
I know what it's like to loose family... and it still hurts.
All I have to do is use what little part of my brain that runs & I can see them all, smiling & talking. (I'm welling up now)
I could go on & on for day's but I'd need a re-supply from the doc first.

My heart goes out to ALL the family near & far.
Blood is the bond that ties us all.

    Take care mccauslind.

That was beautiful, Mimsy, you said it best..... He will be missed, for sure, and a LOT of people will be at a loss.... may he R.I.P.

He did a lot of good, even tho not everyone agreed with him, the end result was good.... I think he did quite a lot of good myself....

Binaryfreek, you made some very excellent points also. If someone is brought up in an abusive home, doesn't necessarily mean they will grow up to be abusive, because THEY take charge and control of their own life... Just because someone is raised by alcoholics, doesn't meant they will be one.. yes, the potential is there, but you control your destiny.... Very good points!

As I said to mccauslind, we all have the capability to do good & bad.
There HAS to be a balance. Ted stood for allot, took allot & meant allot.
Loss is bad... but as is with balance there will be good to come.

My deepest sympathy's go out to all across the pond.

Potential is just one factor that can be plyed to life.
If you look hard enough everything in life has a factor of two... balance.

    The side's to a coin.
    Two hand's, feet, eye's, ear's.
You look up, you look down... Left, right.
    Breathing... In, out.
    Positive, negitive.
    Light, dark.
    Hot, cold.
Loss is terrible. BUT, look at the short list above.
Do you see what i'm trying to say. :)
