Sending email

I have read several discussions of error 0x800ccc60 when sending emails with either Outlook or Thunderbird, but none solves my problem.
I have several email addresses and access all at home, using my ISPs SMTP server to send emails.
When trying the same approach in another location, I get the above error. I have tried switching off the AV and changing the port from 25 to 587, but nothing seems to change.

 

With most ISPs you can only send when using their smtp server, so if in another location just change the server to that of the local ISP. Receiving is OK though.

I have changed the settings for SMTP to those for the ISP at the new location. (Receiving is not a problem in any location.)

I had looked at this site, but I think this would be relevant only if you were setting up a new account from scratch.
I tried it anyway, but it made no difference.

 

If the ISP on whose network you are now attached to requires authentication for outbound email then without a userid and password you will not have much success. With the amount of SPAM going around many ISP's require authentication for outbound email as well.

It turns out that there was a fault which has been rectified.

Just a fault on the server, so nothing to do with settings.
