    Yes, I'm back. grrr!
Not sure what is going on or what has caused this latest issue. I explained the issue in the software thread and Goldenskull sent me here. I posted there as I didn't think it was a malware issue. Here is the thread explaining what is going on. The pc was running super since I installed the new memory. All antivirus is up to date and ran, I run Malware Bytes and CC Cleaner. All have clean logs.

    http://http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=280641

Ran defrag as was suggested and it found nothing to defrag.
Just ran TDSSKiller and it found nothing so there is no log.
Malware Bytes will not run even after a fresh install.

I did manage to run HiJackThis and RootKiller.
As stated my last AVG is clean as is the SAS that was ran yesterday.

I am not on the pc as it will not stop freezing or just sitting there in the thinking zone. (hour glass).

I am on a friends laptop that I've had to hook to my router in order to post. I will post all the logs after I put my desktop back on the router. grrr!

As always any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.
As always I'm extremely careful where I surf and always protected.
Not sure if it's related but this seemed to start with a Windows Update that never did finish as it kept freezing.

Your logs were clean when you last posted here in the Malware Forum. Unless you managed to infect yourself since then, you should stay in the Software Forum. Possibly you need to start running some hardware checks on memory and your disk drive.

Even your last thread here did not show any real malware problems. You just had some minor junkware. Your major problem was really the inadequate amount of memory to properly run Windows.

I was pretty sure it wasn't a malware issue and that is why I posted in the software thread. My logs have been clean since I was here last and I've not download anything. I was advised to run all the Malware Removal Tools, get a clean bill of health from here then return to software thread.

It took quite awhile, as the pc keep freezing but I was able to running them all with success.

The only thing I noticed was when Hitman ran, very quickly the screen (Hitman)screen turned pink and there was a notice about AVG, it was so quick I didn't even have time to read it. I was more concerned with it not freezing, as it did 3 times before that. I happened to look down and AVG was no longer in my taskbar which I thought strange, so I checked in my programs and it was gone. I let Hitman continue and a few minutes later AVG was back in the taskbar and in programs but was disabled. I enabled it.

And since running the programs the pc seems to be running fine. I'm wondering if there was a issue with AVG as no malware shows in the logs from what I can see. Both MalwareBytes and SAS are both clean. As is the last scan from AVG.

I've attached the logs as was suggested in the software thread for a clean bill of health.

You are still not having malware problems. You need to pursue this elsewhere. You still did not add enough memory. I see 1.5 GB now but I recommend 3 GB minimum. But I cannot say this is the full reason for you problems. If you mixed older an new memory chips with incompatible specs, it could be a problem.

I ran the test twice on Crucial before I ordered. It stated I have 2 slots available with a max memory of 2GB. I was hoping with what I already had installed and the additional 1GB that it would make a vast improvement. I'm sure I posted a update to the memory addition. What was already installed on my pc and the new 1GB were not compatible, which took me hours to figure out even after speaking with Dell. The company said it does not happen often, as I contacted them also. I already had figured that issue out by the time they replied. I had to remove the old memory and leave the new 1GB installed. Finances were tight and I had to wait to order the additional 1GB that the computer can handle. But after removing the old and installing the new the change in the computer was amazing. It has been running like new until the other day.

I've spent days and hour trying to figure out what caused the issue. Two things came to mind: two days of Microsoft updates or AVG. I uninstalled AVG using your the Revo Uninstaller that is recommended here and it was removed or so I thought. I thought maybe it was corrupted and I downloaded a fresh copy and when I attempted to install it, it gave a error screen that it couldn't complete the installation as it was already installed on my pc. I checked in Add/Remove and it's not showing there nor if I go to programs, it's not installed there. I went back and check Revo and it's not showing in there. A second attempt to install brought the same results. But I wasn't taking any chances and installed Avast in hope the there is a fix to get AVG removed completely. My second thought was the updates as the first time the issue reared it head was during the installation of the updates and just continued for days.

So I did a system restore and took it back to the day I installed the new memory where I was positive there were no issues and the issue stopped. The computer is now running as it was before the updates, no freezing or thinking mode. I've been on and off all day for hours and the issue has not surfaced again. So I'm thinking it was the updates that caused the issue.

As I stated, I was positive it was not a malware issue and that is why I posted in the software thread but they directed me to Malware before they would address the issue or give help.

Now my issue how to get the AVG completely uninstalled. There must be some remaining files of it that is causing AVG to state that it's installed but I can't find it installed anywhere.

You can work this in the Software Forum too and you can also try running their uninstaller:

    Brilliant! As the British say.

That got rid of every file/folder that on the computer.

Great advice, as always. Everything is running perfectly as it did after I added the new memory. Can't wait for the additional 1GB to arrive.

Thanks again for your super advice. I appreciate it greatly.

    You're welcome.

Now since you are not having malware problems, it is time to do our final steps again:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
The reason fo toggling System Restore above is to get you to a clean starting point and remove restore points that may have left overs from AVG and anything else that may have contributed to your problems.

And remember, It's not always malware!!! ;)

Completed the final steps as suggested.

    All is working great.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Exactly! That's why I posted in the software thread first. Was positive it was not malware but they wouldn't address the issue till I posted in Malware.

    Have a great week.
