    This is getting serious Major

Somebody has recently started infiltrating me. I'm still running 98SE, ADSL. I have a firewall at router level (Dynalink RTA100+), Zone Alarm and AVG. I run AVG daily and every day I have at least 2 viruses, mostly Sun Java files (Yes, I have replaced the Microsoft JVM with Sun). I'm pretty cluey, okay? Still somebody has gotten in. The Windows task manager shows nothing untoward but the MODEM/ROUTER occasionally goes berserk. Somebody is uploading something. I've tried several IP traps but to no avail. What I really need is some software to trap (and hopefully organise coherently) traffic at USB driver level. This guy is smart. So far the effects have been benign (as far as I know). Any advice would be welcome.

What real evidence do you have? Just because your router 'goes crazy' really doesn't mean anything. Any given moment there is something happening on a network - some bot searching for 'live' connections, port scanning, your ISP checking the connection - if it was deemed 'harmful' ZoneAlarm would say - check the ZA setting put them at 'full paranoia' and it will tell you who/what is hitting you.
