I have a windows 2000 home server that has a wireless card on it, the thing is, it connects with the cat 5 wire connected to my linksys wireless router, but it doesn't connect wirelessly. The wireless card manufacturer says it is windows 2000 compatible. The wireless card utility sees the router, it also connects but it doesn't stay connected, and it has never access the web via
wireless adapter card. I tried to get the wireless router software to install everything but I get a error message saying that it can't communicate with the router & to reset. Note that this personal server is not setup with any domain controllers, just workgroup. Any suggestions please ?

    Try this

Open Internet Explorer>tools>options>Connections tab>click LAN settings>untick all boxes.

I am sorry my last post was too hasty.

The advice is correct, but only for getting IE to connect to the internet once you have the router connected in the first place.

Windows 2000 server is quite capable of using wireless connections so it should just be a question of getting your settings correct.

Are you using software provided by the wireless card manufacturer?

    What is the manufacturer?

Have you got MAC filtering set on the Linksys?
