Not sure if this is the place to post this, but
I'm THINKING of getting a server for a website I want to launch. Where can I get a cheap one.

You want to run a web server at home? It's cheaper to pay for someone else to host it for you. You just have to upload your contents. What kind of server is it? Web, email, file, etc.?

for a server all you really need is either have it hosted or take a desktop and run a server os on it and get a static ip from your ISP then when you register your domain for that site just use that static ip as your dns entry with the registrar and your online.

One of those Penguin OS's should work great as a server OS. Make sure you check with your ISP, some won't let you run a server.

Dont host your own server, unless you dont care about uptime and security. Chances are if your having to ask about it here in majorgeeks, your not qualified to run it. Many real data center hosted companies have cheap deals like 5 or 10 bucks a month. Dreamhost is my current favorite recommendation to people who need hosting. Good luck

Well, for computer building/repair, a #2 and #1 phillips head should be all you need. :-D
