Some OEM computers needed updates applied for SP2 work 100% with them. What kind of PC do you have?

I don't think you problem is related with SP. The most possible reason is presence of spyware or viruses on your computer. Try scanning your PC with some antivirus (e.g. Kaspersky) and AntiSpy program (I can suggest Acronis Privacy Expert, there is also Free Spyware Checker on the vendor's site).

what you think and what are possible are distinct things. There has been, in the past, issues with certain machines after SP2 installs that required updates to either the BIOS and or OEM software/drivers that came installed with the machines as delivered.

We have a fairly comprehensive tutorial on how to remove spyware as well should no updates regarding SP2 performance be found. READ ME FIRST: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal.
