Setting Defaults/File Types/Vista

I had asked this once before, and I believe the answer was to the effect, a link to Open Office Help, and I poked-around in there for a while to no avail...

I would really like to set-up Vista here with it allowing me to view;

".dcr" ... stufff

".doc" ... garbage

&

".pps" ... CRAP

and any others that might be fairly common...(?).

The three I listed are simply the ones that tend to JUMP UP ON ME on pretty much a daily basis...

Is there a simple (relatively-speaking) process to help make this happen, please?

Well, I can help you with the .doc and .pps filetypes. The .dcr file might be from a few different sources, so I'm not sure about that one.

To view .doc files, download and install Word 2007 Viewer from here:

As I was watching the first program setup (for the .doc files), I noticed that it was actually MS Office Word Viewer "2003". Is that correct (what it should be), and simply a typo ("Word 2007 Viewer"?

 

Yeah, the word viewer is 2003, not 2007. It's still the latest one available.

For DCR files, I found a free dcr viewer here. Download and install it, and you should be set:
