I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Win 7 64 bit. Whenever I have window opening a voice comes through the speaker telling me what the message says. I can turn the sound completely down and I don't hear it. How can I turn this off?

    Thanks

Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Ease of Access, Narrator. (This is also how to turn it back on later.)

checked this and found the Narrator was not checked - the message from the Narrator is: "please note the message on the screen." Any other suggestions?

For those interested here is the solution: I use a Lexmark printer and I had to go to the setting and untick sounds - this was the only time I was having a problem with the Narrator.
