I have just a dial up connection at the moment, but I have 4 computers which I would like to network/lan to have game tournaments.
I need to know the easiest way to network these computers using a linksys router, and how to disable the firewall to allow all 4 players to play without an actual high speed internet connection.
    is this possible?

All you should need to do is plug the computers into the router. If it is set up with the factory settings it should assign them an IP automatically and you should be good to go. Having or not having the Internet connection will not affect anything at this point. There should be no firewall to disable as well unless the 4 computers you intend to network are all using their own client firewalls (e.g. Windows Firewall, Sysgate, etc., etc.) The router will not block any traffic on the LAN by default - only traffic going to the Internet.
