    Hi All,

running XP SP2 on a(DELL) Pentium D 1GB RAM 2 big GB disks.

I want to use my computer to do 2 very different things. One as a wordprocessor/internet etc STANDARD use... as it is now.

The other is as a video EDITING machine. In this second usage I want to be able to disable a lot of background functions, both software and possibly hardware so that the maximum resources are channelled into keeping the video stuff working smoothly and quickly.

I tried making another user, EDITING but when I deleted shortcuts from my Startup folder for this user, they were deleted from my STANDARD config as well.

How do I get around this? What other settings can I change to minimise resource use in the EDITING user profile without damaging my STANDARD set up?

    Thank in advance

    Dins
