Hi, folks. Long time, no post.
I just got a new PC, and am having a couple of set-up issues. One is my iTunes. the iTunes from my old computer was stored on an external drive. On my new PC, I want to put it on the D:/ drive, not C:/, as there's not enough space. I've tried lots of Apple support suggestions online and whatnot, but nothing seems to be working. So... how can I put all m iTunes info (playcounts, etc.) and files onto my D:/ drive on the new PC.

Thanks for any and all help.

    Steve

Sadly, I always re-install and then import my music, playlists. That's hard enough to do, what you're doing will be almost impossible. Apple really does not seem to care about its Windows users.

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you think it would work better starting from my iPod somehow?

Nope. You're always better to back up your playlists and music yourself or Apple Cloud. Always a pain for me, and as yo find when looking for support, everyone else. In other words, put your music where you want it, install iTunes, then tell it where your music is.

That's what I did (I think), but it still isn't picking things up. I loaded my iTunes folder / all music from my external drive to the D:/, then directed iTunes to it. It hasn't seemed to recognize it for some reason. I hope I'm only doing some little thing incorrectly, but it's frustrating that I can't figure it out! :mad

I may have to start from scratch. Again.

Yeah, you did it right. iTunes has a place to select a folder and that should be that. I assume the drive is working properly and detected by Windows. Maybe reboot and try again if you haven't after iTunes install.

I've got all the tunes added now (no luck with playlists, playcount, etc.), but my iPod won't sync with it. It still has the old playlists and whatnot on it... but it won't add tunes I just added in iTunes. Weird.

I ended up having to refresh the whole iPod / library. Frickin' annoying / poor thought in that design. Thanks anyway.

Glad you have it working, I also have trouble with iTunes on the PC pretty often.
"Windows ain't done til iTunes don't work" was a catch phrase a while back, still somewhat true today.
