I ordered 2 of this HDD:

    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-144-351&depa=1

and I want to set up RAID 0 to increase performance.

The tutorial(PCtechguide.com) I read says I need to download a 3rd party Raid program to a floppy disk. I dont have a floppy drive but i figure Ill just stick it on a cd.

Does this have to be done before the OS is installed?

Can someone point me to a good program?

    thx.

first off you should really have a floppy drive... your gonna need it a lot. the mother board should have come with a raid disk. if you lost it or didnt get one then you should be able to get a copy of it on the web site of the company that made the motherboard. save this file to a disk. then when you go to install the OS you will be asked if you want to use the raid disk. choose that option and you should be able to do what u want from there. good luck :)

You will need floppy drive to install the SATA/Raid drivers, even if you dont set up raid configuration ya still need floppy to install drivers for sata HDD.

You cant install drivers on CD it wont work.

you can remove floppy drive after you have installed windows, but if you have to reload windows youll need a floppy drive again.

You will probably need more help if you had to ask about floppy drive!

    Boot order when loading windows
    1st CDrom
    2nd SATA
    3rd Floppy

After windows is installed, SATA first
At begining of windows setup/boot from CD, pay attention near the begining you will have to press F6 for third party drivers, then latter in setup you will need your floppy disk with sata/raid drivers follow promps

I had planned on getting a floppy drive, but then someone told me they didnt need one when they configured thier new rig. Guess they werent using SATA HDD.

Its cool, got one coming in the mail.

    thx.

I read some reviews on those and they said that they can stand too much voltage...
    What ever that means ;)
