Setting up school email with Mozilla Thunderbird

How do I find the outgoing and incoming server for my school email account? We log in using Novell WebAccess. I emailed one of the computer people here on campus and they replied "Our email is Web-based and cannot be used with a mail program." Uh, I know it's Web-based. I ain't that stupid. And I know it can be used with a mail program... All email can, can it not? And I have set up Web-based email with Outlook before. I just don't know how to find the incoming and outgoing server on this one.

The site I go to to check my mail is mail.msms.k12.ms.us

Any ideas?

 

some web based programs cannot be accessed through other email clients. basic web based programs such as hotmail and yahoo are restricted to web based unless you pay for the fancier versions

EDIT: it looks like you may be able to set it up with POP forwarding however. as for the ports you would need and whatnot, i couldn't tell ya. sorry

 

I would try this and see, but I can find nowhere where it lists the needed servers.

you may be able to find out more info there

 

The webmail server would have to support POP3 in order for you to configure your email client to download from your email account. Since the campus IT said you can't configure an email client to work with thier webmail, then the server does not support POP3.
