Settings affecting keyboard

I was browsing the web one day when my leg hit the desk a little too hard, which led to some water falling on my keyboard.

In an attempt to dry it, I used a cloth to wipe the keys down.

I thought that I had unplugged it first, but I didn't, so it messed up a bunch of the stuff that was on the screen.

It's been about a week since this has happened, and I still have the problem.

It has been alternating through problems for a while, from typing extra numbers whenever I type a letter to downloading links as firefox documents, to not even being able to type at all.

I know that this has to do with my computer settings (must've messed it up while drying my keyboard) because I've tried other keyboards and it still didn't work.

I have been forced to type this whole thing with the on-screen keyboard.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Please note that wireless keyboards work fine.

    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack (if applicable) are you using? (asking as it maybe relevent for various instrustions that maybe different per Win ver)

I would first off in device manager, uninstall your keyboard driver then reboot and windows will re-install it, and see if that helps.

Also boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot and choose Safe Mode with Networking) and see if it works or not, asking this incase something else is broken or corrupt as safe mode installs basic drivers and doesnt start the general startup apps, this can help narrow the issue down at times.

If a USB keyboard, try a different USB port?

    Windows 7 64-bit.

I've tried several different USB ports and several different USB keyboards to no avail.

I even tried restoring my system to before the incident, yet it still has the same problem.
