Setup Program Help

My computer will not load some setup programs. It does the egg timer and then... nothing. Whats going on? I need help.... please?

 

Where are you trying to install from.. Disc ?? and what operating system do you have ..

 

Tried installing from CD Drive and ... nothing. Then tried downloading the program from the net and when I run the program ( which is an Installshield application) it still does nothing. Whats going on?

 

Anybody?

 

Have you done a defrag and scandisk on your computer in the last little while? Some programs don't like to be installed on fragmented hard drives.

 

Does this happen with just some installs? Which ones?

Have you checked for adequate space on your hard drive?

Do you close all running applications before running the install? InstallShield is quite serious about the warning it gives you -- other running programs can interfere with the install process.

Do you disable any anti-virus scanners that you're using while you run the install? Older virus scanners are particularly likely to mess up an install, but it's a good idea to disable any virus scanner. Of course, that means that you have to scan the source file before you do the install, and you have to trust the source. (And if you don't trust the source, you might want to reconsider what you're about to do.)

And like Toke asked: what operating system are you installing these programs under?
