    Hello,

I am having several issus with my computer. The other day I received a blue desktop screen that said "virus was found" and it was running an antivirus 2008 program. As well as numerous pop ups to the internet. I purchased Norton anti virus and spyware to elimate the problem, but it still existed. I purchased spyware doctor which found a lot of infections but has not solved the problem. So as of this morning, I still have a blue desktop which I can not change and pop ups are occuring.

    Please help!
    Jason

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

See if you can get refunds. Free applications actually work better at removing this malware.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

I am in the process of following the steps and currently trying to move the Windows XP icon over to the combofix.exe on my desktop.

I am getting the following error:
    WWindows cannot open this file:
    File: nircmd.com
    to open this file....
What do you want to do:
    use the web
    select the programs

    Please help!

Also, I have recovered my wallpaper, yesterday prior to doing this steps. One other issue not mentioned before is my clock is set at 15:42 but when I click on it, it state 3:42 PM.

I have also attached the two logs that are already complete.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Make sure you are not blocking anything from running with your antivirus or antispyware protection programs. Also skip the part with getting the Recovery Console installed and just run ComboFix by double clicking the icon on your Desktop. Attach the requested log when the procedure is finished.

Also attach the requested log from MGtools.

It is still not working. I tried over and over again. I even turned off Norton and it still won't work. Getting that same error.

Then skip ComboFix and run MGtools as requested. Attach the C:\MGlogs.zip file.
