    Hi!

When I open internet explorer, it goes right into http://secureuptodate.com/ in stead of going to my homepage. Also it comes up a pop-up with a warning about a virus called "W32.Myzor.FK@yf".

In adition its a virus alert down in the right corner that tells me I have several viruses etc. When i click at the alert, it pops in to http://www.spylocked.com/?aff=334.

Also you should know when I followed the "READ AND RUN ME FIRST" tread, I did the mistake of saving the bitdefender log as a .html
and now i don't know how to load it up to you guys :S

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You have a bunch of problems! Let's start with the below.

I'm going to post two sets of instructions below. Each will be enclosed in separate Quote boxes. Make sure to complete the first one 100% before moving on to the second one.

ATTACH THE FIRST LOG NOW BEFORE CONTINUING OR YOU WILL OVERWRITE IT!!!! And then immediately continue on to the below steps.

    Now attach new logs from:
    • GetRunKey
    • ShowNew
    • HJT
The above was only a start so don't expect things to be perfect yet! ;)

Please download the current version of GetRunKey and use it from now on. It has been updated twice since you first downloaded it.

    Uninstall the below software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 8
    Messenger Service
    Mozilla Firefox (2.0)
Sunbelt CounterSpy <-- we are finished with this trial program now!

Then install the current version of FireFox from: Mozilla Firefox

Continue by downloading two tools we will need

    - Process Explorer

    - Pocket KillBox

Extract them to their own folder somewhere that you will be able to locate them later.

Make sure you have rebooted in Normal Mode (do not open any other processes)

Make sure that one and only one Internet Explorer browser is opened up

    - Run Process Explorer

In the top section of the Process Explorer screen double click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on
the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of any of the below DLL files (if found) and then click the kill button.
    etqubbbc.dll
    shwmyshg.dll

After you have killed all instances of any of the above DLLs under winlogon click ok.
(If you do not find these DLLS, just continue on.)

Next double click on explorer.exe and again click once on each instance of any of the below DLL files (if found) and then click the kill
    button.
    etqubbbc.dll
    shwmyshg.dll

After you have killed all instances of any of the above DLLs under Explorer click ok.
(If you do not find these DLLS, just continue on.)

Next double click on iexplore.exe and again click once on each instance of any of the below DLL files (if found) and then click the kill
    button.
    etqubbbc.dll
    shwmyshg.dll

After you have killed all instances of any of the above DLLs under iexplore click ok.
(If you do not find these DLLS, just continue on.)

    Now just exit Process Explorer.

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {971ED7E0-740B-4037-879F-0A08201D8D27} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hwkufuul.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {F0C4D856-442F-4EB9-9B70-98B7B8EFD06C} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkhhg.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoundService] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shwmyshg.dll",setvm
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Programfiler\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [InfoData] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\etqubbbc.dll",realset
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: jkhhg - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkhhg.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all
files" Once you have saved it
double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to
    your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. Avenger
    2. GetRunKey
    3. ShowNew
    4. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system
restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

Oh and also, when i startup the computer i get promped by two RUNDLL msg's that says it cant find the module for "C:\windows\system32\shwmyshg.dll" and "C:\windows\system32\etqubbbc.dll".

That means that Avenger did not run properly. Are you sure you followed the instructions exactly? Did you paste in the file list properly? Make sure you tell me if you receive any error messages. Based on your ShowNew log, most of the files I wanted you to delete with Avenger are still there. Also another bad one showed up. We need to try again. But first uninstall the CounterSpy trial since we are finished with it. Also look for the below in Add/Remove programs and uninstall them:

    IExplorer Security Plug-in
    Internet Explorer Secure Bar

Do the above now before continuing!

That's because you did not fix the lines I requested with HijackThis. Run HJT again and select the below lines:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Programfiler\Java\jre1.6.0_01\bin\jusched.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoundService] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shwmyshg.dll",setvm
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Programfiler\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [InfoData] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\etqubbbc.dll",realset
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: jkhhg - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkhhg.dll (file missing)

After select the above line, click Fix checked!

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. Avenger
    2. GetRunKey
    3. ShowNew
    4. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

hmm.. i did in fact delete those lines from HJT, but seems like they came back :S

And i cant delete CounterSpy because i get promped with this message:

But the avenger logfile came out right this time :)

You probably saved the log before fixing them.

I assume you meant you cannot uninstall CounterSpy. Deleting and uninstalling are two different things. When you installed CounterSpy which user account were you logged into? Are you using the same user account to uninstall it? Make sure the account you are logged into has Administrator priviledges and try again to uninstall it.

At anyrate your logs are clean! You did not tell me how things are working.

Oh, im sorry, i meant uninstall:)

And i found the problem. just had to shut down the CounterSpy process that started at startup :) now i've uninstalled it.

Things seem to be working fine, no issues to report.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix, you can delete the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, and the C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    5. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    6. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    8. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    9. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Okey! Did it :)

Thanks for your help, my computer is working perfect now!
