    Hi

I am having complex problems with my windows operating system. I want these resolved instead of a reformat/install because I lost my xp home and professional edition disks and I cannot get another one without paying 175 dollars which I do not have.

The problems listed below happen after I leave my system idle or in standbye for more then one hour at a time. (Understand that you lose connection in standby. I cannot get my internet connection back aftwards and I lose it when not in standby as well)

    1. My Internet Connection is Cut off and I am unable to restore it.
    2. Control-Alt-Delete produces an error saying that the task manager terminated unexpectedly
    3. My desktop Icons stop working
    4. I cannot open MyComputer, Any Folders, Run, Msconfig, task manager.
    5. Opera, Firefox, Netscape, Internet Explorer, Gecko all refuse to load.
    6. My start menu links stop working all except the logoff button.
    7. Right clicking on the start button does nothing.
    8. My symantec antivirus's auto protect is disabled. and will not reinable nor will the antivirus window open.
    9. When I logoff I cannot log on and I get the following error
The server authenticating you reported an error (0xC00000BB)

When these symptoms happen I restart and everything is fine for a while. THen it starts acting up again

If anybody would help it would be greatly appreciated.

Attatched is system information from everest.

Do these problems happen if you just leave the computer running, with standby disabled? I'm wondering if it's strictly a "post-hibernation" thing, or does it always happen after the computer has been left on for a while?

You won't like this reply, but you need a Windows CD.

Without it, you don't really have any options.

It also happens when you leave the computer on with standby disabled.

I was afraid of that. I dont have the money right now. I have a liscence to XP is it possible to get just a CD somewhere free? or less then the amount charged for a cd and liscence?

You would have to contact Micro$$oft.

If it's any consolation, the expensive part is the Product Key, which you have.

The CD and shipping are minimal. That's assuming Micro$$oft help you out?

Or if you legally own the Product Key, and you know someone who has a copy, you can copy theirs, then use your Product Key.

It must be the same version, ie if your key is OEM, you must find an OEM one and so on.

Sooner or later you will need the CD, and now is a good time.
