I'm running a peer to peer lan and I'm adding a win/2k machine with a folder for each person on the lan to backup their files to. It needs be that one person can't look in anothers folder. When I share a folder it gives me no place to set a password. When I try to browse(from explorer) or map a drive to the 2k machine it wants a pw. I could set up each individual as a user in the 2k machine but when I try to map it doesn't want a userid & pw - just a pw.

The machines on the lan are a mix of win/95, win/98/, win/xp-home, and win/xp-pro machines...

you must login to the 98' machines as a valid user on the win2k box. In order to password protect files the way you want to, you have to have accounts for each person and then set the folder security to deny all but that person and the admin (recommended to keep admin). Then the users on the 98 machines must login with the same credentials set up on the win2k box so it can authenticate properly.
