This is a problem I've never encountered before.

    A little background first.

Custom built AMD Athlon XP 2500
    MSI MB
    512 PC 2700 DDR
    Steel Case

I live in northern Wisconsin....150 miles north of Green Bay. Needless to say, it's cold and very dry up here now.

Twice tonight my knee has bumped my computer case and I have gotten a shock (static electricity only). It also caused my computer to restart.

It is plugged into a surge supressor.

How can I prevent this in the future?

    Get a Humidifier.

Boil a pot of H2O on the stove.

Move your PC away from your knee.

you could try putting a GLAD garbage bag under your tower. either that or touch a doorknob before sitting domn to your pc....this will zap the doorknob instead, then you should be ok :)
