Shockwave

Surfing, found a site with old movies. Required I install Shockwave, adobe flash player, .
Did so. It keeps stopping, get messages it might be busy, it crashes, watching movies is akin to watching circa 1900 nickleodian herky jerky movies. All that is missing is crank on side of my computer to turn.
Movies start, stop, go, lock up. Makes it not worth trying to watch.
Does shockwave, adobe, et all, serve any purpose other than continually malfunction? By chanced any alternatives available?
Something awry in my computer?

It might have been helpful to give the site so it could be checked.

You could try clearing out whatever Flash version you have and install the ESR Flash version: https://www.adobe.com/mena_en/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

Use the Flash uninstaller before rebooting and installing a different version (there are some very dodgy versions out there, any dregs left over from them might lead to further problems) direct (live) link to the uninstaller: http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe

 

You need a decent line speed in order to watch online movies/video without it buffering. I seem to remember you having problems with your line speed - have you tested it lately?
