I leave my PC running 24/7, turning the monitor off @ night. This morning I see the PC is off. I'm thinking the power strip popped off or something. Nope. The monitor has power as does the printer.

I start my troubleshooting with the outlet, changing the power cord to a different socket. Nada. Then I switch the cord to a new one I wasn't using. No joy.

I've unplugged and replugged every cord from the PSU and the mb. I changed the PSU to a known good one I had from another build. I changed the cmos battery. I removed the gpu, all drives, no monitor, the wifi card and all but 1 stick of memory, and still in doesn't start. I rotated the sticks out in case one was bad. Nothing.

I tried removing the wires from the switch and jumping the pins. That didn't work. I replaced the mb cable. That didn't work either.

The PSU and the PSU & cables I was troubleshooting with are both EVGA supernovas, one is 550 gold and the other is 750 gold.

Both PSU's pass the "jumper" test for what it's worth. The first time I push the power button, I hear the PSU click, then nothing. No fans kick. No lights on either the power button nor on the mb.

This computer is about 9 years old, having gone through various upgrades. But the one constant has been the mb. I bought it in 2014.

As the title says... Is it dead Jim?

The paper clip test is nearly a worthless test. All it does is tell you the PSU can turn on. It does not tell you if all 3 required voltages are present and within allowed ±5% tolerances. So for most users, even pros, swapping in a known good supply is the best way to verify a supply is good, or bad. You did that.

Other than the monitor, it appears you either swapped out or eliminated from the equation everything - except the motherboard and CPU. So I'd say 9 years was a good run. :(

Yeah, I kinda figured. Just wanted a second opinion. I guess, in the back of my mind, I was hoping someone would say "Wait, did you check the filchner crossover? You can by bypass it with #2 pencil lead."

But it is what it is, I guess.

    Thanks for your reply.

I'm afraid it is more like the Donner Pass. Sorry.

Before totally giving up on the MoBo (mother board)/computer, I'd try just "starting" with less memory; usually they are modules in pairs, and "20 GB" sounds like 16 GB + 4 GB? Maybe just the "boot" drive, (and video system/monitor) to see if anything happens. Also, inspect the MoBo for swelling or leaking electrolytic capacitors; if that IS the case, the MoBo IS toast, and will need to be replaced.
While 9 years may seem like a "long time" for a MoBo, I still use a Win 98 machine I built in 2000, which is a lot longer than "9 years." Then again, maybe "they don't make them like they used to?" (Of course, it's seen several "IDE Hard drive" replacements over the years,:( and maybe a replacement power supply, but the computer itself is still going strong!)
As for the power supply testing, rather than risking use of a paper clip, screw driver, etc. causing a short to other pins, I (am fortunate enough to) use a momentary contact power switch from a discarded computer, and connect that to the "POWER" pins on a MoBo under test. A simple momentary push of the button works quite well.
