The computer Iam thinking about overclocking is an old compaq presario. I dont know the exact specs but heres some:
AMD-kb-2 processor I think its somewhere under 300mhz
    4mb 100mhz SGRAM
    133mhz 2x AGP 3d graphics
    3gig or under hd
    windows 98

Is there any point in overclocking that so it could be usable.
Also i may try and oc a dell thats 4-5 years old depending on results.
    specs:
    windows xp
    pentium3 800mhz
    20gig hd
    256mb ram
    Nvidia 64mb graphics card

How much will i be able to tweak those two sytems?
also specs are not exact since computers are not with me at moment.

And also would it be a good idea just to practice on the compaq or would the old parts just get messed up?

If its socket 7 i say get a K6-3+ ( if you can find one ) other then that youl need to take it apart and fish for jumpers / dip switches and even then youl be lucky to get a 50MHz OC....

if you CAN go into the BIOS and change it, just remember waht it was at stock and you can do it.

The computer is a new one so probably not will that affect anything?

It wont affect anything, just be sure to check your temps... download something like Motherboard monitor aka MBM5 unless you have another program to keep watch on your temps..

    I assume youve read this ? http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=52812

not nessicarily... if you manage to get into your Dells BIOS, you should be able to disable something called "quickboot" which only shows the Dell logo, instead of your system specs. Then youll have a better chance of getting into your BIOS.
