should i run Gentoo?

i have searched around, and around, and around, and i have finally found a linux distro that i like, or think id like. suse didnt work for me, and knoppix is too slow, but i think gentoo looks really nice. the only problem is that the installation is supposed to be heinous. has anyone had experiance with it?

 

It's a distro, just like any other, try to see if you like it. The install is well, compiling your whole OS, which is not that great of a boost AFAIK, since you probably won't go above -O2 optimizations.
