Should I Update A Driver?

My computer keeps telling me to update AMD Radeon, which I believe is my graphics card. I believe I once read a post on Major Geeks that said it is better not to update drivers unless you are having a problem with the driver. I am having no problems so I am wondering whether just to keep ignoring the notices or whether I should go ahead and update the driver?

In fact I started to update but cancelled it. I decided to pose this question first. It said it was going to take 10 minutes to download. Does that sound right? I was surprised it would take so long. How big is this software for the graphics card?

 

Windows does not nag you about drivers. Where is this nag coming from?

 

I think they are called notices or notifications. They are grey rectangles with black script in them. They slide in from the right onto the bottom right-hand corner of my screen. I get them on both my computers so I suspect it must be Windows. You can click on them to do the recommended action or they disappear within seconds. Of course, when I would like to do a screen print it will not appear!

If the info is required the computer this notice/notification comes on is an Acer Aspire A315-21 laptop running Windows 10 Home.

Not sure but I suspect it's harmless. If your screen has no issues you can just ignore it but you could also turn off notifications from AMD Catalyst Control Center in Settings - System - Notifications and Actions. Looking at mine I have had it turned off for ages - no problems.
