Hilly ho!!! Wellsir ... I bought myself the exact same router Cisco Linksys EA 2700 as a back up in case the first one dies on me. I plug it in, but no internet connection. I try to install it with the disk and I can't get pass the password phase stating it is incorrect and I know it is either password or admin. I even tried my wifi password and it didn't work. What is going on? Why wouldn't the exact same router not plug and play? I unplugged the power from the cable modem and the router ... turned off the computer... booted it back up plugged in the modem ...waited ... then plugged in the router ... nothing honey ... Any ideas? I don't understand why the same router would not just plug and play???? o_O

    HAPPY
    HOLIDAYS!

The default user name and password are set at the factory, users are supposed to use those to login and change the password (and user name if that's permissible), setup the ISP connection, the wireless settings/password etc.

Look for a sticker on the new router for the default name/pass, else it'll be in the manual and available on the Linksys site/forum.

Because every device has it's own MAC, or going forward EUI addresses for starters. So, unless you reboot your modem, it most likely won't "see" your new router, though it is the same model. Also, you need to have the router connected to the modem when you hard reset the aforementioned modem.

Not to confuse you too much, but more info can be found here:
