ok heres my problem, after installing DirectX 9 i noticed windows 2000 a lot longer to shutdown. It now takes about 30 seconds to a minute to shutdown, ad apposed to when i had direct X 8.1 installed my system took about 3-5 seconds to shutdown.

I narrowed it down to being DX 9 cause formatted and reinstalled everything about 6 times 3 times i use DX 8.1 and 3 times i used DX 9. When i reloaded everything with DX 8.1 it shutdown a helluva lot faster then with DX 9.

Anyone know what the problem is, or how i can speed things up again cause waiting a minute for windows 2000 to go through the shutdown process is a pain in the ass.

uh..... you got a hot date? That extra 30 seconds really makes that much difference?

More to the point, it is my understanding from reading threads on the forum here that there is very little software or hardware that supports DX9 just yet so you would probably be better off just staying with 8.1 for the time being.

Besides, I only shut down my computer when the blasted thing freezes up on me. ;)
