Shutdown Problem Please Help

Hi,

I'm very new to the whole forum thing so please bare with me.

I am running an AMD Athlon XP 3000+, XP SP2 2002 edition.

I have been having real problems when it comes to shutting down my machine. Windows always brings up a box that says it cannot close a program, however, these programs have names made up of random letters.

I have been through the steps in the spyware removal thread but still seem to get the same problem.

I have looked in Msconfig and there seems to be an entry pcdfevo 3 times. I don't know if this is part of the problem.

I also seem to get problems with Norton Internet Security - I get an internal program error and the application closes. This does seem to be better after running the steps in the spyware thread though.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me nuts.

Have you run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal If so and you still have a problem, follow the guidelines below and post your HJT log.

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log as an attachment to your message (Do not post the log inline). All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT
