shuttle trails

have seen the ISS pass overhead in years past, but much was made on the news of the fact that this time around the shuttle would display a distinct, SEPARATE, trail the past couple of days (since undocking). meant to look at it, then totally FORGOT when the time came!

NASA site indicates this will continue for 2 more nights, twice tonight (tues into wed) and once tomorrow night (early thurs). from thurs onwards, it goes back to being *just* the ISS for another week or so.

here's the thing: the news is reporting the shuttle's about to LAND (0230 ET). what thu...?! how can NASA'S OWN SITE show 3 more overflights after this?

i get this both when selecting "nearby town", and when customizing applet to my own address.

did i, in fact, ALREADY miss my last chance to see the "double trails"?

 

I don't know about 'double trails' but it's supposed to land in 27 minutes!

 

There goes another picture perfect landing. I wonder if Kelly's wife was there?

 

i can't BELIEVE that not a SINGLE broadcast channel covered this! even at 3 in the morning, they usually break in for a few mins for all takeoffs and landings. not a ONE right now!



anyway, go here and pick a nearby town (or more accurately with the skywatch applet). i'm STILL getting 5 more shuttle passes!

should someone tell NASA?

 

just watched the ISS do its 4 am (ET) pass, and i can report that, no, there was no "chaser" with it.

otoh, did an update on skywatch, and now it's showing 15(!) more passes for the shuttle this week. what thu...?! have i entered the twilight zone?

site is normally so reliable. what's going on here?
