shuttle XPC SG33G Windows Vista Realtek HD Audio no sound

Hi guys. I am a newby here. I joined because I so a lot of good posts and discussions here.

Recently I bought a shuttle XPC SG33G bare bones kit and built my own computer. I nstalled windows vista on it and the drivers that came with the kit.

my problem is I dont have any sound off the rear speakers. The speakers work fine because when I plug them into the earphone socket I can hear very light music.

I've tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to work. hope someone can help me.:cry

So if I understand correctly: with the speakers plugged into the front green audio port, you get sound. With the speakers plugged into the rear green audio port, you get no sound. Correct? If this is the case, enter the Control Panel and find the settings for RealTek HD Audio. Typically, RealTek HD has it's own control center for audio settings. Open it up and just poke around, making sure nothing is muted or disabled. Most of the newer RealTek HD Audio controllers/drivers will auto-sense when speakers are plugged in, and will typically open the audio control center when the speakers are plugged in and will ask for the correct settings if different from the defaults. Also, check the PC BIOS; I have seen some BIOSes that have different settings for front audio and rear audio. Lastly, check the manual. I have seen some motherboards where it is set up so the user can have either front panel audio or rear panel, not both. See if this is the case with your motherboard. If so, you'll need to open the case, unplug the front audio cable from the motherboard header and put jumpers on pins 5-6 and 9-10 (usually, it may different for your system).
