    I have a HP pavilion A1450N
Windows XP Media center edition upgraded to Windows 7
    4 GB of memory

My monitor starting acting funny so I moved the VGA cable and the monitor went nuts.

Changed the VGA cable and it solved the problem.

Turned computer off at night and when I turned it back on in morning all I
get on the monitor is SIGNAL OUT OF RANGE.

Hooked the monitor with new cable to my labtop and it works fine.

Tried to get into safe mode with F8 key but all I can get is start computer normally. The up and down arrows on the keyboard won't work.

The boot screen comes up but then monitor stops and signal out of range comes up.

I can tell the hard drive is booting up by the Microsoft sounds.

I also changed the cmos battery.

Can anyone help. Thank you: Rodwell

Boot into Safe mode, uninstall monitor & graphic card driver, then let windows reload the default drivers when you boot back into normal mode.

Brownizs, the computer would not boot into safe mode because the up and down arrows would not work. I finally solved the problem by finally getting into system recovery and I did a complete system recovery. The only thing I lost was the favorites folder.
Thank you for trying to help. Rodwell
