I think horror gaming is on the uprise.

I also want to know more about Alan Wake II.

They need to bring these over to the PlayStation online store again. The first game is very expensive on eBay, especially for a copy that's still in the wrapper. Fortunately, I have physical copies of all of them. But curious newbies will be done dirty with the steep prices.

  6. Goddess Bastet

    Goddess Bastet First Sergeant

I suspect they’ll appear for the PS + premium subscribers who pay for access to certain PS1 & 2 games. I would expect though if the SH2 remake is successful they’ll remake SH1 next.
Yes, the cost is astronomical for ‘new, in wrapper’ versions.

I get smashed cases all of the time. I may just start going to HMV, or Fopp. But some horror films aren't available in the UK for some reason.

The postal service with DPD is a joke. They lie about missing a delivery, just so they can dump your damaged goods at a paper shop for you to pick up. They just scan a barcode.

  8. Goddess Bastet

    Goddess Bastet First Sergeant

They don’t nickname DPD Destroyit Parcel Delivery for nothing.
To be fair to DPD the majority of items I’ve purchased have arrived in a good condition, box may have been a little bashed but goods fine.

I am thinking about playing the first three games again soon. It's been a long time since I played them, and I really cannot be bothered with the games made after 3. 4 is too hard and the others are not only difficult, but they are mediocre.

In my bedroom, is a small TV that's not heavy, and if you have a scart socket, your AV cables can go into that. If you don't, you need an AV to HDMI converter, but it doesn't look any different.

  10. Goddess Bastet

I have a full HD TV which uses HDMI. Excellent picture for gaming.

Yeah. I agree. PS4 and 5 games look amazingly life like now. It feels like you're actually there.

But old games don't get converted to HDMI, unfortunately. This is why fans have to do their own fan versions, to upscale them.

I fear the outdated look will prevent modern gamers from being interested in these old games. Which I feel are generally better than most of today's gaming experience anyway. Everything has gotten so advanced, though.

I don't find the graphics put me off too much, but for newbies, it is definitely not going to appeal to just anyone.

Remakes do need to attract both new gamers to a particular franchise as well as keeping the older gamers happy. However if this means removing portions of the game then that is disappointing.

I’ve started a YT gaming channel where I’ve added a couple of RE7 vids - Nightmare-Banned Footage & Ethan Must Die (for the under 20 min trophy).

I deleted my channel. I may make a new one to pledge towards YouTubers at the Game Awards. But I doubt it. I'm absolutely skint anyway.

Mr. Creepy Aussie still likes to subscribe to me and look me up online. In fact, I successfully got many URLs removed from Google, because he was spamming my info on various forums.

I wouldn’t normally have done so either but after completing a challenge (Nightmare) it automatically created the video & I thought it may help others in completing the same challenge.

It sounds like he needs a hobby instead of harassing you.

I never got into the series. I played one of them for 20 minutes once, and it wasn't my cup of tea.

Days Gone is incredible, and the director said that Sony made it feel like a flop. It was my highlight of 2019.

I struggle to find good horror games anymore. I think it's time to get into PC gaming. Steam has some interesting looking titles.

  20. Goddess Bastet

There’s some great oldie games on Steam which are no longer available on the PS.
Condemned: Criminal Origins is one I used to play.
They regularly have decent sales as well.

Yeah. Old horror games were certainly the best.

My user name thesaunderschild is actually from the Alone in the Dark games.

I was working in Comet in 2002 and that was the year I got a GameCube, then a PS2 just in time for Christmas. I still believe the PS2 era outshined anything released during the PS3 era, but things picked up again around 2013 on the PS4. But we are now into the PS5 time period. People certainly have a huge appetite for horror gaming still, but I think the genre overlapses with action too much now, which is why these games are not quite as good. They have a fancy presentation. But I think horror games were generally at their best from say, 1995 to around 2006. That's being generous, because RE4 deviated away from the core mechanics of the genre, but was still well received. RE5 sold a lot of copies, but was less well received. Although I honestly find that puzzling sometimes. 4 and 5 are essentially similar. In fact, isn't 5 more fun because it has co-op? Mmm.

The Evil Within 2 however, proves action and horror can co-exist.

  22. Goddess Bastet

    Goddess Bastet First Sergeant

I can’t wait for the AitD remake. I hope they remake them all.
The PS2 & PS3 certainly had some great games - Ratchet & Clank are the games I miss on the PS5.
I’ve purchased The Evil Within 1 & 2 as well as Tormented Fathers- Broken Porcelain which I hope is a good experience play-wise.

My mother is back in hospital. She had fluid building up in her lungs, which had to be drained through an emergency procedure because the nurses didn't give her the correct intake of liquids, according to a text message that my sister sent to me. The doctor was angry at his staff.

I hope she's okay. I've not been able to contact her today as my phones are acting up. One only comes on at the mains because it's buggered, and the one I normally use is a Ulefone branded make, and it wasn't charging up for some reason. It could be the prong has gotten bent inside, as I noticed that the charger keeps coming loose. It's been very sluggish too, with the underboard light coming through the screen as of when it was in the rain today. Didn't seem like my other phone was accepting my SIM, although I always make sure to buy SIM-free phones, but the network I'm on probably think it's stolen.

Anyway, that dumb Aussie probably subscribed to Google for alerts, as it wouldn't surprise me. He was posting even more sarcastic and worthless crap again today about a thread I posted as early as this morning on doyouremember.co.uk. But I love how he hides the use of his real name now, and shies away from even quoting me properly when his real name is included in the user name. Talk about not having a life, though.

Following somebody around online like he does would have to be a full-time career. Sad guy, indeed.

Sorry to hear your mum is back in hospital, hopefully by now she’s recovering well or back home.

It does sound like there’s a problem with the charging port, it may be a simple fix or worst case the port needs to be replaced.
Is there any error message with the other phone?

That guy needs to get a job. He’s also not very bright if he’s hiding who he is but left his real name in his profile/username.

Well, I seen my mum today at the house, and it seems she has lost a considerable amount of weight. Several stone. My sister said she was experiencing delirium again, as this is common with patients diagnosed with CKD. Unfortunately, surgery for the abdomenal bulge is not possible at her age. :(

Yes. The Aussie menace is still the same old, same old, no doubt. He's gonna be 37 in February, and he will never mature or evolve to better himself. But I'm done with him for good. I'm just that tired of his moronic nonsense now, that I've just stopped caring, as has everybody else. It's that straight and narrow. He can spam up the dead forums all he wants, in-between his crappy podcast duties. Because I don't care any more, quite frankly.

Namely, what he records in a girly tone with his bogan collaborators here. I really couldn't make out what he was saying, to be honest.

Moving on to greener pastures atop everyone's favourite quiet wee New England hill, a mystery game got rated in Taiwan recently. It's got a 'sticky notes' covered monster in it, which I at first thought was the flower girl creature thingy from the Silent Hill f trailer, as they do resemble one another.

It could be that this is another teaser, similar to P.T., which was released as a demo for the ever enduring Silent Hills, in spite of it being cancelled years ago by Konami. :)

My iPad’s battery died so have had to replace it. Now while it charges it can on occasion shutdown without warning. Hopefully calibrating the battery has worked.

Sorry to hear surgery isn’t an option. How is she at the moment - comfortable I hope?

He probably still lives with his mum. :)

Hopefully these new SH games will live pot the hype. I’m currently going through The Evil Within 1 & 2. The 2nd one seems easier than the first.

My mum sometimes misses her dialysis treatment, or leaves early due to the discomfort. With renal failure, you should have urges not to do that and go through with it, as it means toxins can excellerate to where you become delirious. Not remembering things, etc.

The last thing you want to do is smoke, but my friend Frank said it must be comforting. With an aortic aneurysm though, the danger of bleeding to death is always present. So smoking is a high risk factor for not only internal bleeding, but a stroke could happen, and she had one in September. There's other risk factors too, such as drinking, lifting heavy objects, etc. You don't wanna be doing that either.

Was hoping to get out more. I don't like being online all day long. I still get bothered by James sometimes, but I don't particularly care any more about this saddo, because he turned 37 a few days ago, and will probably still be doing this dumb crap when he's 50.

He still denies that he's in Australia, despite all the acquired proof and so on. I did attempt to contact Cloudflare on their support forum, to report his spamming on the anxiety forum, but they don't even give up the hosting information anymore. He signed up there too, being an idiot. The thread was then deleted, and he assumed I did it. Their service basically acts like a proxy, so if you go on a who.is, the real hosting information is concealed.

My sister and I played pool on Saturday. It's maybe not a good idea to go to the pool hall over the weekend, as the place was packed and they were getting too excited over the rugby game, making lots of noise. It's quieter during the week, as most people are working. :D

Was hoping to get up to Straiton, which is on the outskirts of Edinburgh. There's a nature reserve there just off from the retail park. You can walk all the way back to the road that takes you back to the hospital. There's also Rosslyn Chapel past Bilston, which I fancy visiting before the hay fever season begins, as when the pollen count rises, the summer is unpleasant.

I'm sure I cycled over the Bilston viaduct once. It does look familiar. :)

She needs to complete dialysis every time. I’m sure leaving early/not completing this will do more harm than good.

He certainly will still be doing that in his 50s.

I’m currently playing The Evil Within 2. It’s different to the first one, it’s easier for a start.

I was going to pre-order RE4 on Amazon, but I mistakenly paid with my previous debit card stored on the site. So since I couldn't amend it, I cancelled the order. Then I put it through again, just to be informed the delivery date would be the 25th as they apparently dispatch it on the day of release. In the past, I thought I got things delivered the same day. Maybe that's not the case anymore.

    :D

I will probably just go to Smyths or Asda this Friday, as they sell games. :)

Re4 remake completed here. I never completed the original version. Layers of Fear due in June I believe although there’s some discussion as to whether it is Pt 3, a remake or a reimaging of the original/first game.

Nice to see you again, Goddess. :D

I completed it too. RE4 was very enjoyable, minus the puzzles that they lined up like dominoes, but some people didn't enjoy Ada's voice or the other voices, so they went after her on Instagram, to the point where she erased practically every comment. It's an all too common issue with gamers online.

I haven't got the faintest idea when any updates are coming for the many Silent Hill projects Konami announced back in the fall. Probably gonna be news at Summer Game Fest, or shortly thereafter.

Please. We love you, Konami. All is (pretend) forgiven.

    :p

Oh, and James B from Australia has been quite the idiot, as always. It's nuts.

I enjoyed the puzzles, I even uploaded some quick solutions to my YT site.
It’s a shame these so-called fans have to abuse voice actors because they didn’t like the voice. It may be the director asked he to speak like that. In any case I didn’t hear any problems with her portrayal.

There’s rumours that SH2 remake is either near completion or is completed & will be released soon. I personally expect a Winter/Christmas release.

I’m sure he’s still being a prat. They never change.

I’m awaiting Alone in the Dark remake. I’m also watching the Layers of Fear as I have their other games but can’t work out if it’s a new game or a remake/reimagine or the first game. If the latter then I’ll pass on it.
