Has anybody tried to upgrade to XP home from Win 2000pro?

I am not sure it will support upgrading to home from professional. In my opinion that would be a downgrade but to each there own. Best thing you can tell by is put in the xp setup cd while running windows and run the check system compatibility. it will tell you if it is possible or not. But word to the wise all upgrades are unstable at best. You are better off installing xp fresh.

I agree about the fresh install, but since it is not my PC that I am doing, I was looking for the quickest option. Personally, I think XP runs smoother than 2000.

I agree with you there. Remember though. it may be a quick fix now. but wait till they call you all the time, when there is a problem, notice the key word, when not if :)

    It won't work.

New install is the only choice you have.
