I am trying to use stationery from OE on a new [replacement] Windows 7 HP 64Bit and get activex errors.

I have tried changing the activex controls in IE9 with no success and frankly have no clue how to fix the errors.

The Windows Live Mail also gives the error message "unable to create stationery" on initial application, but when I click past the error message and also the activex error message everything works as normal.

Do you have the Windows Live Mail (WLM) email client installed and are you using it to access your email in this scenario or are you accessing your Live Mail via IE9?

WLM is installed as the client.

What technique have you tried for installing the stationary from OE into WLM?

Take the stationery file (HTML) and add it to the "My stationery" folder then in WLM >options>compose>check mail>select>apply>OK

The stationery works, but when I try to use it I get the activex error message. I click past the error and complete the message.

I tried copying a stationery file (HTML) from OE on my Win XP computer to WLM on my Win 7 computer and it did not work. I'm not sure why.

I did discover a different approach which might be an acceptable solution. I composed in message in OE and applied stationery. Then, I sent the message to myself, opened it in WLM, right clicked on it and selected Save Backgroud As ..., and saved it. This saved it as an image file, a .png file, not an HTML file. So, to apply it to a message in WLM, I open a new message panel and click on Format, Background, and select that background.

Thank you for your efforts: that method will work to a degree. I was hoping to be able to arrange it so that WLM would automatically format the outgoing message with the stationery.

This method will allow for the use of the stationery/image on a single use only, but requires a little more effort and is not automatic at all. On a positive note the recipient will not get an activex nag on their end if they are using WLM and I use the image.

An interesting aside would be that if I use the HTML version and send it out to another user who has WLM they also get the activex error/nag on their end. I wonder what it is in the HTML that could be causing this issue?
