I've been looking at this program/plug-in for both IE and Firefox. It is made/run by McAfee, is free and (supposedly) rates sites based on their safety. If a site is "good" it will be green and you can surf to it. If it is "bad" then it is not only blocked (you can see coments and bypass it if you want), but a link in Google will have a red x beside of it.

Anyone else have any comments or experiences with it? I'm in the middle of testing it to see if it is worth suggesting to other people...

p.s. I wasn't sure if this post should be here or in Software, but I thought this might be more apropriate.

Moved it to Software EJ, as you will get some more varied responses that having it in a closed to general posting forum as the Malware one is, hopes you don't mind ;)

I only had a small bit of experience with site advisor and found it to be lacking in updates to its information, cannot off hand remember the site it was saying was "bad" but it was completly wrong and at least 4mths out of date, if I remember I will post with the info.

But if you can over-rule its rating of a site and deem it safe ( if you know its safe ) then fine, its another weapon in the malware arsenal.

I've been playing arround with it the last while, and havn't found much "wrong" with the sites. I have found some with questions marks and such that havn't been scanned, but at least we can sign up as "reviewers" and hopefully change their minds, or at least find out why they classify them as "bad".

I'm thinkig of the fact that it would be usefull for people that love to surf, but may be going to questionable sites unknowngly. It would at least stop them from going to most sights. Or for kids. Or for guests... etc.

Yes would agree it would be a useful tool in alerting kids, guests or new/inexperienced users to the internet to a potential danger site.

Very true on the reviewer statment.
