***Site/Forum update***

    Hi Folks

    Just in case you see a message on logon that we have moved to a new server and your DNS many not be updated yet, then you may not be able to login until your local areas DNS server has updated the new server IP. This update will have affected everyone so you are not the only one and its not an issue with your PC.

    You may have some posts that disapear as they could have been posted on the old server during the migration phase and for this I will appologise, but I have had posts disapear as well and have had to delete a large number of spammer again which took a while to do, sadly it is just one of those things, so do repost any of the questions you asked or answers you made.

    We are always striving to keep Majorgeeks updated and with the best uptime we can, hence migration to a new server.

    Thank you for your patience in this transition and you will likely have your favoured forum back as soon as possible.

    It's back. It's missing come functionality, but I've been able to log in to the new server forum for a while now. I figured that the features that are not working (smileys, for example) will reappear when the DNS refreshes so I'm just waiting patiently. :)

    Hi Mimsy yes they should and they are working for me now, but as you know the DNS update may just lag behind a tad in some areas.

    Mine was not updating or allowing me to log into the forums on the new server, so I decided to flush my dns cache.

    Just an fyi for anyone who is having the same issue.

    As an update if parts of the forum are not working as they should then from a CMD prompt do the below

    ipconfig /flushdns

    in Windows Vista and 7 you will need to do this from an elevated prompt, so type CMD into the Start Search box then right click and choose Run as Administrator CMD then type the above line, I would do it twice.

    Re: DNS server

    Yes, since you are now on the new server, you don't need to flush your DNS settings. It may take a while for the ISP's to reset their DNS server setting for others not yet here.

    Hi David. I've been hours stuffing around with this today. For me, nothing appears to work. I've logged on as usual, tried to clear cache. I've logged on as Administrator, cleared cache (see attachment). Gone back to my usual login, nothing worked.

    Do I have to contact my ISP and advise them of server change?
    Do I have to get them to flush their DNS cache.
    Because I live in OZ, does that make any difference? I assume not.

    I'm really :confused :confused :confused

    Bazza, what exactly is it that isn't working for you? Before, while I waited for the DNS refresh from my ISP I wasn't even able to log in.

    Interestingly enough, it has now stopped working again. Meanwhile, I can post from my phone just fine. 3G internet rocks.:)

    Hi ladies. When I try and login to the Software Forum, using http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=21, I get the message "The forum has been moved to a new server. If you are seeing this message, your DNS has not been updated yet. Please read this post.

    When I click on Please read this post., it takes me to David's thread at http://50.23.143.69/showthread.php?t=234667. I can login and add to that thread as I have done, but nothing else at MG works, except to open the front page at www.majorgeeks.com .:cry

    I finally got through to my ISP provider and it seems I might have to wait up to a day or 2 before whomever controls these things realises that Australia is part of the worldwide Internet as well. :-D

    That's exactly the same problem I'm having! :) That's why I'm posting from my phone instead.

    Well, hooray! I can finally get back in!!! Not only was it not auto-logging me in, it kept telling me I was using the incorrect password. Today I came from my bookmark and all is right with the world again. :)

    Will listen to that when I can plug my speakers back in, short story is not enought sockets, installing a Server and have it next to my desktop and need to socket for the powerline network connection.
