SK8V - no video

Asus SK8V
Samsung (2) 512mb Dual channel PC3200
Radeon 9600 128mb


Installed all the components, everything's connected properly... try to boot up and get no video. I swapped out vidcard w/ another card I had... still a problem. Switched DIMM slots w/ ram, cleared CMOS, and still nothing. Also, no lights on the keyboard, and if I press Numlock or Capslock... keyboard does not light up. There are no beeps because the case I'm using (Antec P160) has no speaker... so there could be 1 beep, there could be 100 beeps for all I know. Needless to say... I am highly irritated. I want this system to run!! I'm thinking bad mobo (agp slot in particular?) Thanx.

 

Could be bad memory or timings try setting memory timings manually
For first set up basic keyboard is best
another thought, power supply is good?? and big enough?? doesent those radeon 9600 use lot of juice

 

Figured it out.... wrong type of memory. FX's require ECC registered memory.. I bought non-ECC, unregistered... derrr.

 

heh, annoying, anyway, get an el cheapo speaker from an el cheapo case and connect it as the mobo you have doesn't beep, it speaks - very handy
